When the patients lose teeth or they need teeth replacements with implants or any prosthetic, we always look at the anatomy of the area as a whole, considering the health of the gums, display of the gums, height of the teeth. So it’s very important to restore any particular area that’s missing teeth to its proper anatomy, which necessitates bone grafts or gum grafts. Sometimes it requires sinus augmentations so that there’s ample height to properly place implants where you need them.
These are all very routine surgical procedures that are performed in our office by a periodontist, and a periodontist is a surgeon that specializes exclusively in gum and bone.
