A patient is a candidate for dental implants if they’re either missing teeth or they’re about to lose teeth. There’s absolutely no age restrictions on dental implants. We have patients as young as 17, 18, as old as 80s having dental implants to replace their missing teeth.
It will almost always be a better option because it’s a one-tooth treatment solution without involving any other teeth where if you’re replacing a missing tooth with a bridge instead of an implant you’re having a three-teeth solution to a one-tooth problem. Well implant a very mainstream treatment for us and as such it offers many different solutions to multiple problems. It can be something as straightforward as a single tooth solution with the crown on an implant to replace one tooth.
It could be an implant retained bridge so you can replace multiple teeth. It can be a denture that is secured in place by implants to prevent it from sliding when you’re functioning if you’ve been missing teeth for a long time. Or it could also be a full mouth reconstruction where you can have porcelain restorations that will mimic your teeth that you’re missing and you’ll get back to your almost 100% ideal initial smile where you can floss them like you would your normal teeth and they never have to come in and out and they’ll give you the smile that you want.
