This office deserves a 10 star. Dr Nudel and Dr Michelle are the best! They are both extremely pleasant. They listen to the patients and make going to the dentist less scary and pain free. All the staff that I have encountered Angela, Sam, Denese and Dee have all been are very kind, professional, welcoming and accommodating. Don’t hesitate to make an appointment and go see them to take care of all of your dental needs, you will not regret it.
When kids return to the classroom, having bright starts can mean more than just new notebooks and a fresh wardrobe. A healthy smile boosts confidence, supports overall wellness, and helps prevent avoidable absences.
This back-to-school season is an ideal time to make sure every family member’s dental needs are met so they can focus on learning and thriving.
Young Kids: Laying the Groundwork
For children in preschool and early elementary grades, now is the time to reinforce proper brushing and flossing habits. Schedule a professional cleaning before the school year picks up to remove any buildup from summer treats.
Encourage them to brush twice daily for two minutes, and use songs or timers to make it fun. This age is also perfect for teaching the importance of regular dental visits as part of their normal routine.
Preteens: Monitoring Growth and Alignment
In middle school, dental changes happen quickly. Permanent teeth are settling in, and spacing issues or bite concerns may become noticeable. A timely orthodontic check can determine if early intervention—such as braces or aligners—would be beneficial.
Emphasize flossing daily, especially for those with orthodontic appliances, and help them understand how sugary snacks and drinks affect long-term oral health.
Teens: Encouraging Responsibility
High school students often juggle sports, clubs, and part-time jobs, so oral health can slip down the priority list. Equip them with portable dental care items like travel toothbrushes, floss picks, and sugar-free gum to maintain freshness on busy days.
For athletes, a well-fitted mouthguard is essential to protect teeth from injury. Encourage them to keep up with biannual checkups to address problems before they interfere with activities or studies.
Whole-Family Back-to-School Habits
- Replace toothbrushes at the start of each semester.
- Send reusable water bottles to school to reduce acid and sugar buildup.
- Choose healthy snacks like raw veggies, yogurt, and cheese over sticky, sugary options.
- Make oral care a shared daily priority—kids are more likely to follow your example.
